Meet the amazing people on the Steps of Hope Team
in Guatemala
Ana Chavac Garcia has been working with us for seven years. She is one of our teachers and is very outgoing and loves to joke with the children and make them laugh. She is extremely creative and loves doing all types of activities with her students to make them want to learn more.
Aracely Piche Rojo has been working with us for four years as a teacher as well as teaches Bible classes. She is passionate about spreading the word of God. She also works with her husband, Byron, doing home visits and talking with the mothers to help them open up about their home situations so that we can serve them the best that we can.
Aura Chavac Garcia works with us in the kitchen, as well as working with students when needed. She has been with us for about four years now! She has a wonderful spirit and loves to joke with the children and talk with them while they are eating their meal.
Byron Cuma Xar has been working with us since January. He is our nightguard as well as does home visits with his wife, Aracely, who is also on our staff. He also works with our students in the computer lab, and with teams and volunteers who do construction work in our family's homes.
Glendy Marisol Piche Rojo has been working with us for about five years. She is a teacher as well as teaches our students English. She has a very loving heart towards the children and students love being part of her classes.
Irma Pio Vasquez has been working with us for about a year. She works in the office as a secretary and works one on one with our students who need extra academic help. She also teaches English classes. She has a joyful character and makes sure that each child is heard and receives attention.
Lorenza Piche Rojo has been working with us for a few months and cleans the school daily. She is very quiet but has the desire to serve the Lord at the Steps of Hope center and in her life.
Mercedes Mendoza Garcia works with us in the kitchen, as well as working with students when needed. She has been with us for seven years. She also loves to talk with them about what is going on their lives as they eat.
Sandra Piche Rojo has been working with us for about six years. She is one of our teachers and has a calming spirit that the children are drawn to. She is also one of our Bible teachers and loves teaching the students about the Lord.
Jessalyn Waddell de Mena is the program director and founder of Steps of Hope–Guatemala. It is the culminating passion of a life of international mission work and a calling to make a difference through education for those in need.
